Join our family of experienced authors

Every author on MyFavReads is prescreened for the quality of their work and dedication to their literary art.

Our Authors are proficient in expressing themselves in the written English language and have a history of completed works. In this way, we guarantee our readers won’t regret spending money on reading novels on the MyFavReads platform.

Two types of contracts

While thinking about the needs of our authors, we offer two types of contracts.

Non-exclusive contracts come with:

• The author keeps the licensing rights and can post their work on any other platform and in any form without the need to notify MyFavReads about it.
• Note: If your non-exclusively contracted work is available on another platform, it shouldn’t be free to read.
• For the duration of the contract, the author is guaranteed 40% cut of the net income their book makes on the MFR platform.
• Book will stay non-exclusively contracted until the author requests it to be removed from the MyFavReads platform. Conditions for how it can be done are listed in the contract for that novel.

Exclusive contracts come with:

• MyFavReads will own the licensing rights for the novel (digital, paperback, or audio) for the duration of the contract.
• While the novel is exclusively contracted, the author is guaranteed 60% cut of the net income their book makes on the MFR platform.
• Authors are free to sell merchandise related to their exclusively contracted novels.
• The exclusive contract between MyFavReads and the Author will end 5 years after the book is completed on the MyFavReads platform. The contract can be extended, if both parties agree. When the exclusive contract ends, the book becomes non-exclusive.

Additional perks for exclusively contracted novels

• Cover creation.
• Ongoing feedback from our CEs (available even before you apply for a contract!)
• MTB (monthly top up bonus of up to +$100 per month that starts on the next month after the novel has been contracted and is valid for the next four months).
• VIP tiers for the novel.
• Earn additional promotions (up to paid ads) by providing regular updates to your novel.
• An early paperback license that the authors can request 2 years after the novel has been completed on the platform.

Grow with our platform

Good performance of your novels and loyalty to our platform will lead to an increase in the author’s level.

Authors will start with level 1 and work their way up to level 5.

Every six months, MyFavReads will evaluate the performance of novels and authors, and determine if the author’s level will stay the same or change accordingly. Think of it as an employee review in a company where one can be promoted (or demoted).

Author’s level can go up as part of a reward for winning a contest, or other contributions where we see that the author is contributing to the success of the MFR platform as a whole.

What does the author’s level mean to readers?

A higher author’s level is a testament that the author’s work on the MyFavReads platform consistently attracts and retain readers.

We will evaluate reader retention and interactions that include comments, votes, and reviews.

What does the author’s level mean to the authors?

Besides bragging rights, the author’s levels provide an additional % of income on top of what’s stated in the contract.

If your author’s level increases, it will impact the income of all novels contracted with the MyFavReads platform. Here is how:

Level 1 = +0% on income

Level 2 = +3% on income

Level 3 = +6% on income

Level 4 = +9% on income

Level 5 = +12% on income

To explain this with an example:

• If an author with level 1 has one exclusively and one non-exclusively contracted novel, they will receive 60% and 40% of income cut for those novels respectively.
• If an author with level 4 has one exclusively and one non-exclusively contracted novel, they will receive 69% and 49% of income cut for those novels respectively.

Guaranteed promotions

At MyFavReads, we are transparent regarding when and how your book will be promoted. By contracting your novel and providing regular updates, you can work your way toward the promotions.

Promotions can be:

• Within the MyFavReads app
• On our social media
• Via external ads

Every MyFavReads author will be promoted on our app when they sign their first contract.

A book will be promoted:

• When it’s contracted
• On every 50 published chapters
• When it’s completed

Extra promotions will be given if your book has a good reader retention rate.

Exclusively contracted books will get a chance of guaranteed incremental promotions if the book is regularly updated.

What do we consider as regular updates?

45k+ words published monthly, and chapters published 22 days/month.

Think of this as you are getting weekends off.

Tip: If 45k words/month is a lot for you to maintain, consider writing in advance and creating a stockpile. Once your contract kicks in, you can schedule previously written chapters for publishing so you meet the 45k words and 22 days/month criteria.

Establish yourself as a brand

We are aware that readers don’t come to MyFavReads because we are an awesome platform. They are coming to read your books and to interact with you (aka the author).

Our mission is to offer to MyFavReads authors a variety of ways in which they can present themselves in the best light possible. As an MyFavReads Author, you will get resources such as:

• An author’s page that you can customize to appeal to your readers.
• Links to your social media are easy to set up so your readers can find you outside the MyFavReads app.
• We promote books and authors.
• Readers who follow you on the MyFavReads platform will be notified of milestones for your new and existing books.
• Interact with readers, organize events, and give rewards that turn your readers into fans.
