Literary Elites is a three months-long novel-writing contest that’s perfect for long, original novels with fast-paced plotlines that can hook the readers from the first chapter.

We have prizes for winning novels and their top fans!

Our budget for prizes is $25,000.00 USD!

Who can participate?

• the author must have access to the MFR Creator’s portal. Not a MFR author? Apply here.
• the novel must be contracted with the MFR (exclusive or non-exclusive contract).
• the novel must be new original work, not a part of ongoing series and not available anywhere else. No fanfiction, translations, or poetry.
• there are no theme restrictions. We will provide writing prompts for inspiration on our Discord for authors, but the stories can deviate from those.
• Non-exclusively contracted novels can’t be published elsewhere until the winners are announced.
• each prize consists of cash+promotions+bragging rights. Cash prizes are reserved for the exclusively contracted novels. If a non-exclusive novel won a prize, the author will get an option to switch to exclusive or forfeit the cash part of the prize.

To qualify for a prize:

• the novel must have 100k published words within the timeframe of the contest.
• the novel must have regular updates of a minimum 1 chapter per week for the duration of the contest.

Keys to success:

• high quality of writing,
• daily updates (new chapters),
• a thrilling plotline, and
• believable & likable characters.
• HEA is a bonus!

Prizes

• 1st Prize: $5,000.00 in cash + promotions worth $3k+
• 2nd Prize: $2,000.00 in cash + promotions worth $2k+
• 3rd Prize: $1,000.00 in cash + promotions worth $1k+

Readers’ Choice (2 Winners):

• Token ranking: $100 + promotions worth $500+
• Bookworm ranking: $100 + promotions worth $500+

All participating novels will get promotions for the duration of the contest: in the app/web, and on our social media.

Note: if a novel goes 1+ week without updates during the contest, ongoing/future promotions will be put on hold until the novel resumes steady updates (at least 1 ch/week for two weeks in a row).

Word Count Bonuses will be available for all novels participating in the contest (exclusive and non-exclusive novels) as long as they maintain steady updates of at least one chapter per week for the duration of the contest:

• 100,000 Words: +$50 on your income (you need to reach this word count by March 31, 2025)
• 150,000 Words: +$50 on your income (if you qualified for the previous word count bonus; you need to reach 150k words by April 30, 2025)
• 200,000 Words: +$50 on your income (if you qualified for the previous word count bonus; you need to reach 150k words by April 30, 2025)

All winners will get cash prizes and promotions:

• weekly featured once per month for 12 months,
• library feature once per month for 12 months,
• MFR SM promos once per month for 12 months,
• splash banner on the app,
• MFR blog promotion,
• Paid: blog and SM promotions.

In case a novel wins both the Readers’ Choice prize and the main prize, the winner will get all the money prizes combined, but the promotions won’t be doubled/tripled.

Promotions for winners will start in April-May 2025 for all winning novels.

Cash prizes will be given as part of the regular income for the month when the novel has been completed.

If the novel that won a prize went more than one month without updates after the contest has ended:

• MFR reserves the right to stop the ongoing and future promotions;
• the novel won’t be eligible for the cash prize payment.

Winning novels with 200+ chapters will be in our shortlist selection for additional paid promotions. This chapter count can be reached after the contest is completed, but the updates need to be regular until the novel has been completed.

If you are unsure if your novel has an explosive start that will hook up readers, reach out to our CEs with the high-level plotline and arrangement of scenes so they can provide feedback. Sometimes, a slight shuffling of scenes, change of location or ages of characters, will make a difference between a so-so novel and a trending one!

Our CEs will be monitoring novels that are participating in the contest and flag entries that have:

• noticeable AI use,
• repetition or overall drop in quality of writing.

Warnings will be given to the offending novels/authors, and if the authors don’t edit their work per CEs’ recommendation, they might be disqualified from the contest.
