MRC2026 is a novel-writing contest that’s perfect for long, original novels with fast-paced plotlines that can hook readers from the first chapter.

There is no fee to participate in this contest!

We have prizes for winning novels and their top fans!

The budget for prizes is $30,000.00 USD!

Who can participate?

• You must be an MFR Author. Not an MFR author? Apply here.
• The novel must be contracted with the MFR (exclusive or non-exclusive contract).
• The novel must be a new original work, not a part of an ongoing series, and not available anywhere else. No fanfiction, translations, or poetry.
• The novel should belong to one of the four given themes.
• Non-exclusively contracted novels can’t be published elsewhere until the winners are announced (Dec 1, 2026).
• All participating novels will get promotions within the app, on MFR’s social media, and paid promotions — depending on the number of published chapters.
• All participating novels will be eligible for word count bonuses!

About the prizes:

Each prize consists of cash+promotions+bragging rights. Winners of the main prizes will get a custom website and a chance to be a judge in our upcoming contests.

Cash prizes are reserved for the exclusively contracted novels. If a non-exclusive novel won a prize, the author will get an option to switch to exclusive or forfeit the cash part of the prize.

Why join MFR’s contest?

All participating novels will get promotions for the duration of the contest: in the MFR’s app/web, and on our social media. Here are the details:

When contracted:
= the book will show on the Event page of the app and web.
20 published chapters:
= MFR will create a set of promotional banners that the authors can use on their socials to tell their readers about their new book
= the book will be promoted on the main page of the app/web in the category “Contest.”
30 published chapters:
= the book will be added to the queue of library featured books in the app (the queue will be in rotation for the duration of the contest)
40 published chapters:
= video promo showcasing the book, tags, and where to read it — this will be published on MFR’s socials + the “Trailer Video” link on the novel’s page
50 published chapters:
= the book will be added to the promotion queue for MFR’s social media (at a rate of about 2 per month)
= the book becomes eligible for bookworm voting. Once we have 4+ contest books with 50+ chapters, this will be another featured category within the app.
75 published chapters:
= paid promotion on social media (FB/IG)
= additional promo banners for the book
100 published chapters:
= blog promo
150 published chapters:
= video promo for the book (YouTube format — this one will replace “Trailer Video” the book received on 40 published chapters)
200 published chapters:
= paid promotion on social media (TikTok)

Word Count Bonuses will be available for all novels participating in the contest (exclusive and non-exclusive novels) as long as they maintain steady updates of at least one chapter per week for the duration of the contest:

• 120,000 Words: +$50 on your income (you need to reach this word count by October 30, 2026)
• 170,000 Words: +$50 on your income (if you qualified for the previous word count bonus; you need to reach 150k words by November 29, 2026)
• 220,000 Words: +$50 on your income (if you qualified for the previous word count bonus; you need to reach 150k words by November 29, 2026)

Important! If an ongoing novel goes 1+ week without updates during the contest:

• Ongoing promotions will be put on hold until the novel resumes steady updates (at least 1 ch/week for two weeks in a row).
• The book won’t be eligible for cash bonuses.

In addition to the above, each main prize includes:

• MFR Coins for the authors to share with their readers
• Author’s level-up, which will increase % of income for all contracted novels
• Role of a judge in the upcoming MFR’s contests
• Custom-built author’s website. If the author has an MFR-built website at the time we announce winners, the prize will include refreshing the content and/or redesign.
• Readers win, too! The top 3 fans of the book will receive MFR coins:

To qualify for a prize, your novel must have:

• 120k published words within the timeframe of the contest (by November 29, 2026).
• regular updates with a minimum of 1 chapter per week until the novel is completed.
• a minimum of 30 unlocks (via coins+vouchers) per premium chapter.

All winners will get promotions on the MFR app and on MFR’s social media.

One author can enter more than one novel in the contest.

One novel can win only one main prize.

In case a novel wins the main prize + additional prize(s), the winner will get all the money prizes combined, but other parts of the prize won’t be doubled/tripled.

Promotions for all winning novels will start in December 2026.

Cash prizes will be given as part of the regular income for the month when the novel has been completed, not sooner than November 2026.

If the novel that won a prize went more than one month without updates after the contest ended:

• MFR reserves the right to stop the ongoing and future promotions.
• The novel won’t be eligible for the cash prize payment.

Winning novels with 200+ chapters will be in our shortlist selection for additional paid promotions. This chapter count can be reached after the contest is completed, but the updates need to be regular until the novel has been completed.

If you are unsure if your novel has an explosive start that will hook readers, reach out to our CEs with the high-level plotline and arrangement of scenes so they can provide feedback. Sometimes, a slight shuffling of scenes, a change of location, or the ages of characters, will make a difference between a so-so novel and a trending one!

Our CEs will be monitoring novels that are participating in the contest and flag entries that have:

• noticeable AI use,
• repetition or an overall drop in the quality of writing.

Warnings will be given to the offending novels/authors, and if the authors don’t edit their work per the CEs’ recommendation, they will be disqualified from the contest.
